Arrived at the hospital at the arranged time, 6:30 PM on Thursday January 26th.
Nearly immediately after arriving, the nurse on duty called in Stephanie (one of our practice's Midwives) and immediately set upon inserting a Foley Ball (I think that's what it's called). The purpose was to get the cervix dilated to 3cm. That was achieved by the first time she had to go to the bathroom (and anybody who's been around pregnant women will recognize the frequency of that).
We were told to relax and sleep, Amy was given an Ambien to help her sleep. Much, much easier than the last time I went through this mess, as it happens. Except this time the room was cold, the bed was uncomfortable...but Amy seemed to sleep okay...she tossed and turned early till about 3:00 AM, then we both got a few hours of sleep before the morning shift came in.
Kim (our chosen Midwife) arrived bright and bushy at 6:00 AM, and we were off. Amy's water was pierced about 8:00 AM, and she was being hydrated for epidural, which should arrive within the hour.
The Prince, it is said, should be arriving around lunchtime.
